i want to tell my heart to you, but i cannot say english
11/06/2009I stole the title of this post from a “…As the Poets Affirm” album title… it’s been stuck in my head since I saw it in my collection a couple weeks ago… (the album title, not the tracks haha)
have a few tracks that I am digging today:

I like the title of the album so much because it really /speaks to the human condition/ … the slashes were required because, although that phrase does kind of say exactly what I mean, it’s so cliche that it needs some diverters for the cheese that would be dripping from them otherwise… (it should be noted that I enclose things in “/” for a plethora of reasons, usually to denote italics, but since there’s no standard as far as I know… I kind of… take advantage…) ;-)
Annyyways it resonates with that feeling I sometimes get of just wanting to express a strong emotion, usually very positive… but cannot express directly, with the same intensity that I feel it, to everyone around me at that moment… I don’t just want to EXPLAIN what it feels like, I want them to actually be able to FEEL it…
This intense feeling is on some level diluted/tainted by the knowledge that due to the abstraction of language & touch, nobody will ever really really know your heart and mind, that no matter how close you get there is still a small & infinite divide…
This isn’t as depressing as it sounds of course. What would we do if it was easy… It wouldn’t be anything special, those times where you somehow synchronize and connect and get so very close… but it would be nice if you could close the distance entirely if only for a brief moment…
Okay I’m clearly sleep dep’d and off
on a tangent…

As the poets affirm are pretty mellow, but their songs tend to build slowly and have a lot of momentum by the end. They are actually disbanded now, but they were a pretty cool group, entirely instrumental, and bringing together a lot of different elements, acoustic, rock, classical, electronic music, jazz, etc., with probably equally varied instrumentation…
hapy.
